Environmental Effects on Dry Eyes in Primary Sjogren&apos;s Syndrome

Purpose: To investigate the effects of humidity, temperature, and fine particulate matter (PM2.5) on dry eye disease (DED) parameters in primary Sjogren's syndrome patients.Methods: We retrospectively analyzed medical records 18 patients who underwent DED treatment had more than two follow-up visits. Symptom Assessment Dry Eye (SANDE) scores, tear secretion, film breakup times, ocular surface staining osmolarity were assessed. Temperature, PM2.5 concentrations during week before patient visits calculated using public data their relationships with analyzed.Results: All females, an average age 57.6 ± 12.4 years. High temperature was significantly correlated humidity concentration (p = 0.004 0.006, respectively). The high low groups lower SANDE scores 0.017, 0.063, 0.049, respectively) < 0.001, 0.009, Multiple regression analysis showed that stronger correlations 0.005 0.012, compared to concentrations.Conclusions: Ocular discomfort concentrations.
